Sell Your Bicycle at Pando

Done with your bike? Let’s find a good home for it.

When you bring your bike into Pando, we’ll help you find a good home for it, and also help you earn significantly more than you’d receive from a traditional bike shop trade-in program, .

All you have to do is drop off your bike, and we’ll take care of the rest — tuning, pricing research, advertising, managing test rides, and payment processing.

Once your bike sells, we send you the proceeds via Venmo, Paypal, or as store credit. It’s that easy.

What We Accept

We accept bikes from reputable traditional “bike shop brands”, such as Trek, Cannondale, or Fuji, with a resale value of up to $2,500.

We also accept bicycle components and accessories that are in great functional condition, including wheels, forks, dropper posts, apparel, etc.

Bikes do not need to be in perfect mechanical condition, but they should have no compromising frame damage.

A few limitations with what we’re able to accept —

  • eBikes — we only accept eBikes from established bike brands that have a robust service network. This includes traditional bike brands, as well as a very limited number of eBike-specific brands (for example, Rad Power Bikes). eBikes must have a battery that operates successfully at full or nearly full capacity.

  • Recumbent, tandem, and other specialty bikes are accepted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Local drop-off only, we are unable to accept shipped bikes.

What to Expect with Bike Consignment

Bike Drop Off

Swing by any time with your bike, and we’ll help you get started. No appointment required.

Bike Appraisal and Tuning

Within 2 business days of dropping if off, we’ll give your bike a full mechanical inspection and appraisal.

This will include our recommended selling price for your bike, along with any service costs that may be required to prep your bike for selling. If everything looks good to you, we’ll get your bike tuned and ready to sell!

Marketing and Selling

We’ll list your bike for sale on our website, along with other local secondhand marketplaces such as facebook. And of course it will be available for everyone browsing at our retail shop.

We’ll manage test rides, answer customer questions, process payments, and make sure your bike goes to a great new home.

Get Paid

Once your bike sells, you’ll get an email notification, and you can request a Venmo or Paypal payout, or come back to Pando and use your credit in store.

Your Earnings

Store Credit Trade In

For bikes that you’d like to trade in for store credit, we offer 60% of our planned selling price (in season) on most bikes, minus any required tuning or maintenance costs.

Cash

If you’d prefer cash for your bike, we can sell your bike on consignment, and send you a Venmo or PayPal payment once it sells.

Your earnings are based on how much your bike sells for -

  • Sold for $100 and below: you keep 50% of the proceeds

  • Sold for $101-$500: you keep 60% of the proceeds

  • Sold for $501-$650: you keep 70% of the proceeds

  • Sold for $650 or higher: you keep the entire proceeds, minus a flat $195 consignment fee

As part of the consignment process, we perform a basic tune on your bike at no additional charge. This includes commonly-needed adjustments to components like derailleurs and brakes, as well as a basic bike cleaning.

If your bike requires additional work to be ride-ready, we can perform this work and deduct costs from your consignment earnings, no upfront payment required.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • To do our small part to curb bicycle theft, we're unable to provide same-day cash for bikes. Instead, we can take your bike on consignment, and send you the proceeds through Venmo or Paypal once it sells.

Because we wait until the bike sells to send payment, this means we can generally provide higher cash offers for bikes than you might get elsewhere.

  • Bikes need to be inspected in person by our mechanic before we can provide an accurate estimate. This often involves leaving them overnight.

    However…

Our listing price for bikes is often (but not always) within about 10% of the “Excellent” suggested price on bicyclebluebook.com. If you take that number and then consider the percentage of the selling price you’ll earn, you may find this to be useful as a ballpark estimate.

  • We're happy to get your bike fixed up and ready to sell. However, depending on the value of your bike and the costs required to get it in working condition, in some cases this may not make financial sense for you.

When you bring your bike in, we'll provide a quote for any work needed, so you can make an informed decision on if you'd like to move forward with consignment or not.

  • If your desired price is within a reasonable distance of our appraisal for your bike, we'd be happy to list it at that price.

  • You're welcome to take your bike out of the consignment program at any point if it hasn't sold yet. Please note that you'll be responsible to pay for any service work that was performed on your bike, before we can release it. This includes the $79 basic tune that all bikes receive, plus any additional agreed upon work that was performed.
